Fall 2025
Overview
A dwelling shaped by memory and time.
Veiled Time is an LGBTQ+ senior dwelling at Stonewall Housing in Brooklyn exploring memory, identity, belonging, and comfort through familiarity.
Design concept
Creating comfort through familiarity.
Rather than feeling institutional, the interior unfolds like a home gathered over time. Spaces reveal themselves gradually, with comfortable furnishings, softened transitions, and intimate moments encouraging residents to settle in, wander, and make the space their own.
Spatial strategy
Three design moves.
- 01
Gather
Create varied seating groups that support different levels of privacy.
- 02
Ground
Use deep wood tones and stone to give the room a lasting sense of place.
- 03
Layered Lighting
Layered lighting creates a softer atmosphere that changes with the rhythm of the day.
